If you happened to make your way over to the Saltsburg Unit-ed Methodist Church on Sunday, May 20, 2018, and entered their fellowship area, you might have felt as though you had entered into the Emerald City from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The Church was hosting their annual spring dinner with The Wizard of Oz theme, complete with decorations and food that followed the theme of the evening. Ashley Hall, who helped organize the event along with her mother Sharon were dressed as Dorothy. Others who attended the dinner, such as Camryn and Laney Hruska were also dressed as characters from the story. Dinner cost $12 for adults and $5 for kids ten and under. Dinner included a roast beef dinner with all the fixins'. Doors opened at 5PM, and the dinner officially started at 6PM. Of course, no small town event could be complete without giveaways and door prizes. Those who won were able to take home hanging bas-kets, gift cards to the Olde Salt Restaurant, and knick knacks. Approximately 83 people were in attendance, which helped to make for a successful evening. Dinner ended at 8:30PM.
The Saltsburg United Methodist Church would like to thank all those who came out to support the dinner, Julie Dunmire who donated hanging baskets, and all the ladies who worked so hard in preparing for the dinner. Proceeds from the night go toward the fund for replacing the church windows.
